London, Feb 25: In a further blow to the family of Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius, his brother Carl is also facing trial over the death of a woman.
According to Pistorius family lawyer Kenny Oldwage, Carl Pistorius had been charged with culpable homicide over the death of a woman motorcyclist in a traffic accident in 2008, BBC News reports.
Stating that the younger Pistorius is innocent and that the charge will be challenged in court, Oldwage said that Pistorius’ brother had appeared in court the day before his brother’s judgement in the bail hearing last week, and added that he is due to appear again in March.
Oldwage further said that the charges against Pistorius after the accident, which took place in the town of Vanderbijlpark near Johannesburg, were dropped at that time but were subsequently reinstated by South African prosecutors.
Oldwage also said that police had conducted tests on Pistorius after the accident and did not find any alcohol in his blood.
Carl Pistorius was a constant presence at his brother’s four-day bail hearing, the report added. (ANI)
