Washington, Feb 24: Oscar Pistorius’ family has said they realise the law should run its course in statement on Saturday after the Paralympic champion was released on bail for allegedly killing his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
South African Olympian Pistorius is spending time his family today after the athlete was freed on 113,000 dollars bail on Friday, ABC News reports.
The Pistorius family also expressed their gratitude that the former Olympian was allowed out of jail before the trial.
Bladerunner’s uncle, Arnold Pistorius said in a statement on Saturday that they realise that the law must run its course, and they would not have it any other way.
Pistorius’ uncle added this constitutes a moment of relief under these otherwise very grave circumstances, adding they are extremely thankful that the Paralympian is now home.
Pistorius is charged with premeditated murder in the Valentine’s Day shooting of his girlfriend Steenkamp.
Pistoriuis will have to adhere to strict conditions to stay out of jail before the trial, as he must give up all his guns, he cannot drink alcohol or return to the home where the shooting occurred, and he must check in with a police department twice a week.
Pistorius is believed to be staying at an uncle’s house as he awaits trial, the paper added. (ANI)
