New Delhi, Mar 21: Veteran social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday revealed that he will undertake a nationwide tour from Mar h 31, aimed at creating awareness on issues such as unemployment, corruption and price rise.
Hazare and former chief of army staff General (Retired) V.K. Singh said the “Jantantra Yatra” would begin from Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar and cover the states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in 18 days.
“This is a set-up that will not join any political party or fight elections or come to power,” Hazare said at a media briefing.
“The disruption being caused in Parliament is because of the selfish interest of political parties… change of government will not help, entire system has to change,” he added.
Hazare did not reveal whether he would attend activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal’s planned protest fast on Mar h 23.
“We will see if we get time,” he said.
Kejriwal takes on Delhi govt on the issue of hike in power and water tariff ahead of state assembly polls to be held later this year. (ANI)
