Kolkata, March 5: With songs on their lips and the paint brush in their hands, leftist student and youth organisations Tuesday expressed solidarity with the Shahbag movement in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.
Hundreds of students and youth gathered at the city’s cultural hub Academy of Fine Arts, and held a rally attended by several cultural personalities.
Singer Subhendu Maity rendered patriotic songs, as also those extolling the language movement in Bangladesh and its liberation war.
Playright Chandan Sen and actor Chandan Sen also took part in the rally.
At Shahbag, protestors have been demanding death for those who committed crimes against the Bangladesh liberation war of 1971. The Shahbag protestors have been singing, reciting and staging dramas.
