New York, Mar 1: People from New York lie about their physical stature, race, wealth and even pregnancy, it has been revealed.
A new survey, conducted by Whatsyourprice.com, found that in one case, a woman from Long Island claimed to be her more-attractive sibling to get dates.
Other females simply failed to mention crucial things, like the girl who claimed to be a 115-pound beauty, then showed up in her second trimester, without even hinting she was pregnant.
In another case, one man posted images of himself next to a Ferrari even though he owned no car and rode the bus.
The study, which surveyed 19,500 people, found that most New Yorkers are more likely to lie about careers than cars while singles are most likely to lie about age, career and nationality, the New York Post reported.
Representatives from the website said that the nationality factor is likely due to the city’s ties to fashion and theatre – industries in which a certain “ethnic look” can make or break careers.
The study revealed that black New Yorkers claimed to be “mixed” and many Latinos claimed to be “Puerto Rican” even though they were actually born elsewhere.
In the city, 33 percent of men and 34 percent of women lie on their profile, far more than the national average of 19 percent of men and 27 percent of women.
The survey found that Washington, DC, and Atlanta singles are even bigger liars than New York citizens. (ANI)
