Sydney, Mar 5: Former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd has been invited to formally open a nationally touring sex and pornography event after being outed as its biggest Twitter fan.
Sexpo Australia is among the almost 370,000 Twitter accounts followed by Rudd, ensuring he receives their frequent daily updates about the event and its porn stars, as well as a host of saucy images, reports the Herald Sun.
Rudd, who has almost 1.2 million Twitter followers, is the event’s highest profile fan – even bigger than porn star Jenna Jameson who has just over 520,000 followers.
Sexpo Australia General Manager Tracey Browning said she was thrilled when the event’s social media publicist discovered the Prime Ministerial connection this week.
Browning said despite appearances, the event had something of a serious political bent with Australian Sex Party senate candidate Fiona Patten running a campaign stall there.
A spokesperson for Rudd said his Twitter account was set up to automatically follow anyone who follows him, although the backlog meant people were sometimes missed out.
The spokesperson said Rudd was honoured by the invitation, but he was unable to open the event. He said Rudd will be in Parliament on Mar h 21, and will “happily leave the launching of ‘Sexpo’ to others”.
Sexpo Australia opens at the Sydney Convention Centre on Mar h 21 and runs to Mar h 24 before moving to Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne. (ANI)
