London, Mar 7: Manchester United is ready to sell striker Wayne Rooney at the end of the season as boss Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly feels that the striker is no longer indispensable to the club.
United is ready to cash in on Rooney, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain poised to lead the chase for him, following Ferguson’s ongoing concerns over Rooney’s fitness and overall conditions, the Mirror reports.
Tensions between Ferguson and Rooney came to a head when the 35 million pound-rated English star was dropped from United’s starting line-up against Real Madrid, to which it lost 2-1 to exit the Champions League.
With Rooney out of contract at the end of the 2014-15 season, the Old Trafford giants are looking to letting the striker’s current deal run down to its final year, which may drop the market value of Rooney considerably.
Rooney has made 394 appearances for United and scored 195 goals since joining from Everton for 27 million pounds back in 2004, the report added. (ANI)
