Gay couple’s image on Italy cathedral irks Church

Rome, July 16: An image of a same-sex couple and their child that was projected on the dome of a cathedral in the Sicilian city of Palermo has irked the Catholic Church, AKI news agency reported.

Palermo’s Archdiocese is “extremely bitter”, sources told AKI.

The incident took place Sunday in front of a crowd of thousands of people who had gathered for the veneration of Palermo’s patron Saint Rosalia, a major annual event in the city.

Palermo’s mayor Leoluca Orlando declined to comment on the incident.
