Baghdad, Sep 23: At least 23 people were killed and 93 others wounded in multiple attacks across Iraq Sunday, police said.
Fifteen people were killed and 35 got injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a funeral in the Dora district in southern Baghdad, Xinhua reported citing a police source.
Earlier in the day, at least eight people were killed and 58 others wounded in attacks across Iraq which is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years.
Four men were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a shop in the Adhamiya district in the Iraqi capital, a police source said.
In another attack, two young men were shot dead by gunmen in the Mashtil area of the city, the source added.
Two policemen were killed and two others wounded when a roadside bomb struck their patrol in Eaid village near Mosul city, some 400 km north of here, a police source said.
At least 51 people were injured when a car bomb exploded near the directorate of education in central Kirkuk, 250 km north of Baghdad, the source said.
Five policemen were injured when a suicide bomber attacked their patrol in western Kirkuk, he added.
The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq said earlier this month that almost 5,000 civilians were killed and 12,000 others injured in Iraq from January to August this year.
