Chennai, Sep 29: After much criticism and corruption allegations leveled against him, N. Srinivasan on Sunday was re-elected unopposed and unanimously for a third-term as President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) here today, but will not be allowed to take charge until the Supreme Court clears him on a case against his candidature.
After the 84th Annual General Meeting of the BCCI elected, the various subcommittees of the board were also announced, the choice of which stand testimony to Srinivasan’s hold over the Board as the chosen persons are believed to be close associates of the Chennai-based President.
Ranjib Biswal was announced as the chairmen of the Indian Premiere League Governing Council for the next year, and holds immense responsibility after the sixth season fo the tournament was remembered for its corruption scandals.
Plagued with match-fixing allegations against its players in the last year, the BCCI today announced that an Anti-Corruption and Security Committee has been newly constituted, which will will be chaired by Amitabh Choudhary, former Additonal Director General of Police,Jharkhand.
Sanjay Patel was announced as the Honorary Secretary, Anurag Thakur was announced as the Honorary Secretary, and Anirudh Chaudhry was announced as the Honorary Treasurer of the Board for the 2013-2014 year.
The Vice Presidents of the five zones were also announced as: S.P. Bansal (North Zone), Rajeev Shukla (Central Zone), Shivlal Yadav (South Zone), Ravi Savant (West Zone) and Chitrak Mitra (East Zone).
Statutory committees of the Board were constituted at the AGM of the BCCI, as well.
Former cricketer Sandeep Patil was declared as the Chairman of the All-India Senior Selection Committee, while Rajinder Singh Hans, Roger Binny, Vikram Rathour, Syed Saba Karim, and Sanjay Patel will serve as part of the committee.
Connor Williams was announced as the chairman of the All-India Junior Selection Committee. Pritam Gandhe, Aman Kumar, K. Jayaraman, Arup Bhattacharya and Anurag Thakur will serve as part of the Junior Selection Committee.
Meanwhile, Shanta Rangaswamy will chair the Women’s Selection Committee, Ravi Savant was announced umpires sub-committee, and S.P. Bansal will chair the junior cricket committee for the year 2013-2014.
Additionally, it was decided that Rajeev Shukla will chair the tour programme and fixtures committee for the next year.
Dr. G. Ganga Raju will take over as the head of the Finance Committee for the BCCI,
which an resume his duties only after the Supreme Court gives its final verdict on the case filed against his candidature by the Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma.
T.C. Mathew will chair the National Cricket Academy Board (NCAB), as announced by the BCCI after its AGM earlier today.
Vinod Phadke will serve as chairman of the Media Committee, while Ravi Jai was announced as the Committee’s Vice-Chairman.
Meanwhile, former Indian bowler Anil Kumble will chair the Technical Committee for the 2013-2014 annual year.
The Marketing Committee will be chaired by Amitabh Choudhary and the Museum Committee will be chaired by Dr. C.P. Joshi.
N. Srinivasan can resume his duties as President of the BCCI only after the Supreme Court gives its verdict on the case filed against his candidature by the Cricket Association of Bihar secretary-Aditya Verma. (ANI)
