London, Oct 3: Scottish side Celtic has ended their Champions League drought with a crucial first win in their Group H clash against Dutch side AFC Ajax on Tuesday at Celtic Park.
The 2-1 victory gave Celtic their first points in their Champions League group after two defeats.
According to the BBC, a finely balanced first half ended with Celtic’s James Forrest scoring from the penalty spot in the 45th minute, while his teammate Beram Kayal got what proved to be the winner with a deflected shot in a second half controlled by the hosts.
The report mentioned that even though Lasse Schone’s impressive last-minute goal saved Ajax from a complete humiliation, Celtic got the victory that keeps them well in contention for a place in the last 16 for a second successive season. (ANI)
