Washington, Oct 23: American aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky and Boeing have announced the name of their new Joint Multi-Role (JMR) helicopter, called “Defiant.”
The JMR helicopter program will replace the popular Apaches and Black Hawks helicopters within the next two decades, Fox News reports.
The U.S. Army had announced its’ plan to invest 217 million dollars in the first phase of the Future Vertical Lift initiative, which is developing the JMR, on Oct er 2.
The “Defiant” team has been working with three other teams, including Bell Helicopter/Textron, AVX Aircraft Company and Karem Aircraft.
According to the report, the army will select two teams, who will then build prototypes for flight tests next year. (ANI)
