Washington, Dec. 23: Indian-origin Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will run for president in 2016, Senator David Vitter has said.
Vitter said Jindal (Republican) was already laying the groundwork to pursue 2016 GOP nomination for president.
Vitter however did not say whether he would support his home-state governor in what is certain to be a brutal Republican primary season.
According to Politico, asked if Vitter believes Jindal would to be president, the senator replied ‘yes, and that was very obvious to everybody who has been paying attention’.
Vitter is currently considering whether he will run to succeed Jindal in occupying the governor’s mansion in Baton Rouge in 2015, the report said.
Jindal is term-limited and cannot run for a third term. (ANI)
