Last king of Mysore passes away

Bangalore, Dec.10,: The last maharaja of the Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar Bahadur died of a heart attack in a city hospital on Tuesday. He was 60.

Though not officially a maharaja, the last King of the Mysore Royal Family had a heart attack in his Bangalore house. Afterwards, he was rushed to a city hospital where he expired.

Also called as Srikanta Wodeyar, he was the scion of Mysore Kingdom which was ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty between 1399 and 1950.

He was also a Congress Member of Parliament from the Mysore constituency.

Born in 1953, he was the only son of last ruling Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar and his second wife Maharani Tripura Sundari Ammani Avaru. He headed his dynasty from September 1974.

He was a fashion designer and a regular attendee at fashion shows. He used to design for his own brand of silk sarees. (ANI)
