Liverpool beat West Ham 4-1 to move to second spot in PL table

London, Dec 8: Luis Suarez was on song again as Liverpool beat West Ham United 4-1 in the Premier League, sending them to second in the table.

According to the Mirror, Suarez’s header was the only clean goal and arrived with timely satisfaction for Liverpool as West Ham had brought them back to 2-1 and summoned a mini-revival.

Just when it seemed West Ham would reach half-time unscathed, they inadvertently handed Liverpool the lead, the report said.

Two minutes into the second half it was 2-0 as Mamadou Sakho met Gerrard’s superb free-kick at the far post but the wasted openings came back to give Liverpool a kick up the backside when Matt Jarvis headed Demel’s ball back into the goalmouth and Martin Skrtel poked the ball past the stranded Mignolet, the report added.

Suddenly Sam Allardyce’s side sniffed the improbable and the ever-alert Maiga almost equalised, but Suarez put an end to such thoughts, the report further said. (ANI)
