Royal prank DJ Mel Greig quits Oz radio station

Wellington, Dec. 5: Radio host Mel Greig, who was behind a royal prank call linked to the death of a Indian origin UK nurse – Jacintha Saldanha, has quit her job after settling her dispute with employer Southern Cross Austereo.

Greig had filed a Fair Work complaint claiming that her employer had failed to provide a safe workplace.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Austereo said in a statement that the dispute arising from the royal hoax had been “amicably resolved” and Greig had resigned, effective from December 31.

The prank on the London hospital staff where the then-pregnant Kate Middleton was being treated for severe morning sickness caused an international outcry after one of the nurses involved, Saldanha, was found dead 3 days after Greig and Michael Christian duped her into passing them on to a ward nurse, who gave out details about Kate’s condition.
