13 killed, 39 injured in Iraq attacks

Baghdad, Jan 30: At least 13 people were killed and 39 wounded in violent attacks in different parts of the city here Wednesday, police said.

Five people were killed and 12 suffered injuries when a car bomb exploded in a popular market in the city’s New Baghdad district, Xinhua quoted a police source as saying.

Four people were killed and 15 wounded when two car bombs went off in the city’s Shuala area. Two people were killed and eight wounded when a car bomb exploded in a market in Baghdad’s Talbea area, a police source said.

Unidentified people killed two civilians and injured four in the city’s Camp Sara area, he added.

According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 8,868 Iraqis, including 7,818 civilians and civilian police personnel, were killed in 2013, marking highest annual toll in years.
