BJP is seeded in corruption: Kapil Sibal

New Delhi, Jan. 23: New Delhi, Jan. 23: Reacting to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s speech at a rally in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Union Law and Justice Minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday said that the BJP and Modi have no right to advise others on matters of corruption as they themselves have a legacy of corruption.

“The BJP is seeded in corruption. Look at Karnataka, all the Reddy brothers were involved in corruption and they have deep links with Yeddyurappa, yet, Modi took him back in the party,” said Sibal.

“BJP ministers are in jail today. Over 22 legislators are involved in land grab deal in Karnataka and even in Madhya Pradesh complaints have been made against a lot of ministers,” he said.

“Why are ministers like Bokhariya and Solanki, who are convicted for corruption still in Modi’s cabinet? He should look at his own house first,” he added.

Kapil Sibal further said that even Gujarat had a lot of corrupt ministers yet no action was being taken against them.

“Gujarat itself has ministers who were involved and convicted of illegal activities; even then Modi did not throw them out. How can the BJP and Modi make allegations against the Congress party? I would like to ask him which Congress minister is in jail today?” he asked.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been accusing the Congress of corruption for long and has tagged them as the ‘corrupt Congress’.

In the speech today, Modi had said to the people of Uttar Pradesh, “You give me 60 months and I will give you a life of peace. I have come here to make this promise.”

He also said that the Congress continues to mock the poor and could not tolerate a onetime seller of tea becoming the nation’s prime minister.

He had further said that it was the poor who had to suffer and die due to the ignorance of the government and that he Congress considered Scheduled Castes important only while elections. (ANI)
