CBI must probe Kashmiri students’ deaths in other states: Minister

Jammu, Jan 20: A Jammu and Kashmir minister Monday demanded a CBI probe into the deaths of Kashmiri students studying in various states of the country.

Roads and Buildings Minister Abdul Majid Wani made the demand while referring to youth Khalid Mantoo, from Doda district of Jammu region, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur where he was pursuing an engineering course.

“Like many incidents before, today again we lost a bright and promising young man from our state,” he said, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in all such cases wherein students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in various other parts of the country were found dead.

This is really a matter of serious concern which needs to be investigated by the CBI, he said.

Expressing grave concern over the number of deaths of students from the state studying in various parts of the country, Wani contended that a probe would ascertain the truth behind these sudden deaths and also expose any foul play behind these deaths.
