Channel Ten sees 300 pc increase in audience following 100 mln-dollar T20 investment

Sydney, Jan 5: Australian broadcasting network Channel Ten is reaping the rewards from its 100 million-dollar investment into Twenty20 cricket after it increased audiences from Fox Sports last year by 300 per cent, regularly peaking at well over one million viewers across the country.

It is a remarkable performance considering the Ashes cricket has soaked up so much attention this summer on Channel Nine, including exciting contests, combined with a stylish new-look commentary team.

According to News.com.au, former Test skipper Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Vivian Richards and gun sports reporter Adam Hawse has earned rave reviews for Ten’s first venture into Australian cricket, while the popularity of host Mel McLaughlin has helped.

The report mentioned that the Big Bash has a median age of 47, compared to an older Ashes audience on Nine, which has a median age of 53 in the same weeks. (ANI)
