Cold wave tightens grip as rain lashes Delhi

New Delhi, Jan. 21: People faced great inconvenience on Tuesday as rain lashed the capital, leading to a dip in mercury and throwing traffic out of gear.

The sky was dark till late in the morning and reportedly Meteorological Department (MET) has forecasted that rain would continue throughout the day.

A daily commuter, Pankaj Saini, complained of traffic and said rains bring joy but suffering too.

“The weather conditions are too bad but I have an interview so I have to go. We are facing lot of problems and facing traffic. We are suffering. We are facing lot of problems as we are not getting any auto-rickshaw,” said Saini.

People were running to seek shelter from rain and thronged bus shelters.

Another daily commuter, Breejesh Singh, said bus services were hit and cold wave has intensified.

“I am standing here since one hour and I have to reach metro station and we are not getting buses here and we are facing too many problems due to rain and there is intense cold,” said Singh.

The bone chilling cold wave that has been sweeping across North India, and killed 11 homeless people in Delhi on Saturday. (ANI)
