Congress’s not naming PM candidate as their defeat is evident: BJP

New Delhi, Jan.19,: Attacking the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said, the former is not naming its prime ministerial candidate as its defeat is evident.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, “The target has become clear. In his speech, Modi has clearly spelled his vision of country. The people of the country have also started walking with us.”

“Why would they anoint Rahul as their PM candidate when they know that their defeat is evident? The wind is in favour of the BJP so why would anyone file his candidate just to lose ultimately,” he said on Congress who has refrained from anointing Rahul Gandhi as their prime ministerial candidate.

Another BJP leader, Smriti Irani said, “Modi, in his speech, raised some serious issue. Firstly, how good governance will be defined in the country in future. Secondly, how development can take place in the country. And lastly, he stressed on centre and states relationship for the progress of our nation.”

“He talked about his humble background, with which the country is quite clearly familiar. But I am quite surprised that the media is questioning us when we are the ones, who have been insulted,” she added.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who was newly inducted in the BJP, said, “Top players never discuss the actions of small players. We look forward and at the world. And in that world, we look at the role of India in it. Today Modi is the only leader in India, who has untied the nation.”

“The question should be asked to the people. Are they with a team, which is refraining to name its captain? They refrain from giving him the flag of the country. There is no accountability in this team (Congress). Here we know that the victory only belongs to the country,” he said.

Earlier today, Modi attacked the Congress Party for not declaring their PM nominee at their AICC meet on Friday, saying that the announcement was withheld because the Congress could visualize their defeat in the upcoming elections.

He further hit out at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for calling it a Congress tradition of not disclosing their PM candidate.

“Did a Parliamentary panel choose Rajiv Gandhi as Prime Minister? And here you are telling us about traditions. Parliamentary Committee of Congress did not choose Dr. Manmohan Singh as PM, it chose Soniaji as their PM. but Ms Gandhi nominated Dr Singh,” he said.

Modi also took a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, and said that Congress workers came to hear the name of their Prime Ministerial candidate, but went home with three cylinders.

The meet was attended by several top leaders of the BJP including L K Advani, party president Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. (ANI)
