Kiran Bedi backs Modi, says ‘we need a Congress-free Govt.’

Haridwar, Jan.13: Former IPS officer turned social activist Kiran Bedi on Monday backed Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, asserting that voting for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) means opening a back door for the Congress to come to power again.

“Between the two national parties, whom do we choose? Unless we are looking for a hung parliament, you need one of the two main parties for stability, and the Congress has to be voted out,” she told media here today.

“If you are voting for the AAP, which is working against corruption, it means you are opening a back door for the Congress to power. I am saying this in the interest of the nation, we need a Congress free government, and we have only one option with us, and that is BJP, under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” she added.

Bedi further praised Modi, and said that his name has become synonymous with the development of Gujarat.

“He has displayed his caliber by becoming the chief minister of Gujarat three times. Everyone knows that he is behind the development of Gujarat. He has the potential, he has experience, and he is an honest leader, and we should test him,” she added.

Earlier on January 2, Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP had won the trust vote in the legislative assembly with Congress support.

The 28 AAP members, along with seven Congress MLAs, a lone JD (U) member and an independent member, stood up in support of the motion.
