London, Jan 18: The body of a three-year-old Indian-origin boy, who went missing mysteriously from his home in Edinburgh in Scotland Jan 15, was found 30 miles away from his home.
Malcolm Graham, assistant chief constable of Police Scotland, said that Mikaeel Kular’s body was found in the Fife area in Scotland just before Friday midnight and a person was detained in connection with the investigation, the Mirror reported Saturday.
Police are yet to confirm who the arrested person is but the report citing a source said that it is the boy’s mother Rosdeep Kular who works as a beauty therapist.
Fife is thirty miles from Edinburgh, where Mikaeel went missing.
A bungalow at Kirkcaldy in Fife, where Mikaeel lived for a period of time before moving to Edinburgh with his mother and reportedly belonging to Mikaeel’s aunt, has been sealed off.
Following his disappearance, police combed the streets of Drylaw and Edinburgh with a group of volunteers and a dog squad, while coast guard and lifeboat crews scoured the shoreline half a mile away.
Police also launched an aerial search for the missing boy.
Mikaeel was last reported to have been seen when his mother, Rosdeep, put him to bed at their flat at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
“As a result of enquiries, the body of a young child was recovered in Fife just before midnight,” Graham was quoted as saying.
“We strongly believe this to be the body of Mikaeel,” he said.
“A person has been detained in connection with the recovery of the body and members of Mikaeel’s family have been informed of the recovery.”
Police, however, refused to comment on claims that the family had child custody issues.
