London, Jan 7: England batsman Kevin Pietersen has reportedly said that he is ‘determined’ to help his team regain the Ashes when Australia visits England again in 2015.
Pietersen, who was England’s top-scorer in their 5-0 defeat in Australia recently with 294 runs at an average of 29, fell well below his Test batting average of 47 in Australia and was criticised for his risk-taking approach.
According to the BBC, Pietersen wrote on Twitter that he is very disappointed that England lost 5-0 and that he did not score more runs personally, adding that it was a tough tour against Australia, whom he branded as a ‘top-class team’.
However, former skipper Michael Vaughan, who captained England to victory in the 2005 Ashes, fears that the team may make Pietersen a ‘scapegoat’ for the Ashes whitewash, although he believes it would be a mistake if England were to drop Pietersen, who has made 104 Test appearances. (ANI)
