New Delhi, Jan. 20: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet chief ministers of all northeastern states here on Monday to review infrastructure and development projects in the region.
According to media reports, several projects in the northeast region are facing environmental hurdles, while the progress of others has slowed down due to insurgency-linked problems.
The kidnapping for ransom of those involved in implementing these infrastructure projects is common in the region.
Dr. Singh, who represents Assam in the Rajya Sabha, is expected to stress upon the early completion of these projects, especially those related to road, railway, telecommunication and hydroelectricity.
The meeting is likely to pave way for the early completion of major projects. (ANI)
