Washington, Jan. 28: Quentin Tarantino has filed a one-million-dollar-lawsuit against Gawker Media for blatant copyright infringement.
The script for ‘The Hateful Eight,’ the 50-year-old director’s long-rumored followup to the 2012 critical darling ‘Django Unchained,’ already leaked earlier this month, prompted him to put the film on hold.
However, Gawker Media’s Defamer blog followed the news by linking to the leaked script last week, the Verge reported.he Hollywood Reporter obtained the full complaint, wherein Tarantino has asid that the Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people’s rights to make a buck.
In Tarantino’s view, Gawker media has taken things far this time, and instead of just linking out to the news of the leak, Defamer crossed the line by, in addition to soliciting readers for access to the screenplay, promoted itself online as the first official source.
Implicated in the complaint are AnonFiles.com that allegedly ignored a DMCA takedown request from Tarantino’s lawyers, and eight more unnamed defendants who the acclaimed director believes were involved in the leaked script. (ANI)
