Surat authorities create diamond-studded miniature Taj Mahal

Surat (Gujarat), Jan.4: Authorities in Surat have made and put on exhibit a magnificent miniature replica of the iconic Taj Mahal adorned with diamonds and gold, to be auctioned for charity.

The exquisite replica of the one of the seven wonders of the world has been engraved with 50,000 diamonds sponsored by a Thailand-based company.

“The diamonds of the replica of Taj Mahal have been sponsored by a Thailand-based company. 50,000 diamonds have been used in the making of this miniature. Other than that, gold, silver, plywood, plaster of Paris (POP) have also been used,” said a diamond trader, Rajiv Joshi.

The replica has been put on display in a sparkling exhibition. It is plated with more than 20 kilograms of silver and one and half kilograms of gold.

The 8-foot-high miniature has been valued at millions of rupees and a businessman has offered to buy it for more than 10 million rupees.

The fund collected from the auction will be used for a charitable cause.

As per authorities, a research team visited the Taj Mahal in northern Agra city to record the intricate details of the monument to use them in the making of its replica. (ANI)
