Taxi driver kills estranged wife, daughter in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 12: A 35-year-old taxi driver has been arrested for killing his estranged wife and 10-year-old daughter after a dispute over property, police said Sunday.

The incident came to light around 9 a.m. Sunday when a relative found the bodies of the mother and daughter in their house in Sagarpur area of west Delhi and informed police.

“Jaswinder hit his wife Sarita, 35, and daughter Shalini with an iron rod Saturday night, killing them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Suman Goyal.

During questioning, Jaswinder told police that for several years, he was living separately from his wife and daughter in the same house and had no relations with them.

Another police officer said that Jaswinder decided to kill his wife since she was demanding her share of the property.

“He killed his wife and daughter when they were sleeping and fled from the spot,” said the officer, adding Jaswinder was arrested from his hideout in the same area Sunday afternoon and he confessed his crime during questioning.
