Two arrested for assaulting Delhi official

New Delhi, Feb 25: Two people were Tuesday arrested for assaulting a municipal corporation official, a day after AAP workers led by former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti allegedly beat him up, police said.

Mobin Ali, 37, and Liyakat, 50, were arrested from their home in Hauz Khas area.

Ashok Kumar, an executive engineer with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), was Monday afternoon allegedly assaulted by some people who were protesting the demolition of a house in Hauz Khas.

Kumar, in his statement to police, said he was beaten up by men wearing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) caps.

The statement said the scuffle took place in front of Bharti.
