New Delhi, Feb.15: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Vijay Goel on Saturday announced that his party would stage a sit down protest over what it termed the Aam Aadmi Party’s “betrayal of the people of Delhi.”
Addressing media here after a meeting of the Delhi unit of the BJP, Goel said Kejriwal had failed to fulfill his promises on water, power and women safety.
“We have decided to sit on Dharna at Jantar Mantar on 18th February to protest the Aam Aadmi Party’s betrayal to Delhi people. We are going to expose AAP’s governance failure, their unfulfilled promises before the public. They failed to fulfill their promises of cheaper water and electricity, regularization of contractual labor and relief to auto-drivers,” he said.
On the question of whether the BJP is ready for fresh elections, Goel said the ball is in Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s court.
“If the Lieutenant Governor asks us to form a government, we will think about it. The ball is in the LG’s court. It is up to him to decide whether to dissolve the house or not. The BJP is ready for all eventualities,” he said.
“We have decided that we are ready for the upcoming elections. We are confident of winning all of the seven seats in the upcoming elections under Narendra Modi’s guidance,” he added.
Earlier, reacting to Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation as Delhi Chief Minister, BJP leader Harsh Vardhan on Saturday termed his 48-day tenure as the “worst example of governance.”
“I would like to request the countrymen to analyze the activities of Kejriwal’s government in last 48 days. They will realize that he has only spread anarchy and has set up the worst example of governance in this country,” he said.
Reacting to the AAP’s allegation of an existing BJP-Congress corruption nexus, Harsh Vardhan added: “People are familiar with the lies propagated by Mr. Kejriwal. No one takes them seriously now.” (ANI)
