New Delhi, Feb 5: India has told Pakistan that an “expeditious and successful conclusion of the investigation and trial” of those involved in the Mumbai attacks would be a major confidence building measure.
Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur told the Lok Sabha Wednesday in response to a question that “India is committed to resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan, through a peaceful bilateral dialogue in an environment free from violence and terror. It has also been conveyed to Pakistan that an expeditious and successful conclusion of the investigation and trial relating to those involved in the Mumbai attacks would be a major confidence building measure”.
She said that during the commerce ministers meeting between both countries on Jan 18, both sides had reaffirmed the commitment to expeditiously establish normal trading relations and in this context to provide Non-Discriminatory Market Access (NDMA), on a reciprocal basis.
“They decided to intensify and accelerate the process of trade normalization, liberalization and facilitation and to implement the agreed measures before the end of February, 2014,” she said.
