New Delhi, Feb.15: Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal is aiming for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and added that he is keen to prove that the AAP is not like the rest of the parties.
“I think he is aiming for the Lok Sabha elections because either he is giving statements on the T.V., or is sitting on a protest. He is keen to prove that this party is unlike the others,” Dikshit told media here today.
Quoting Kejriwal’s controversial statement saying that he is an anarchist, Dikshit said, “He defined himself by saying this. The Chief Minister has to work for the welfare of the state and its people. You cannot just promise things to the people and then don’t act accordingly.”
She also said that the people know the truth about the promises he says that he has delivered.
“He said that in 20 days he has fulfilled 22 promises. Now everybody knows the truth about all this,” he added.
Referring to the confusion regarding the electricity rate and water in the Delhi, Dikshit said, “He has created confusion among the people. You cannot provide good governance if you confuse people. Now the people have to pay because of this confusion.”
On the Jan Lokpal Bill, Dikshit said, “He had to resign as the Jan Lokpal which he was proposing was not constitutional sustainable. It is all related to the constitution. You are an elected body and how can you go against the constitution.”
On Friday, Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister after the Assembly session was adjourned sine die following protests by the opposition over the Jan Lokpal Bill.
“Today Jan Lokpal Bill was not allowed to be introduced, BJP and Congress united to oppose it. Their true faces have been brought in front of all of us,” he said to the AAP supporters who had gathered outside the party office here today.
“I did not come here for power. And today our Government has tendered its resignation. And I will consider myself fortunate if I have to sacrifice my life for the country. We had a Cabinet meeting right now, and it was decided that our government will resign,” he added.
Kejriwal also said that the Delhi Assembly should be immediately dissolved, and demanded for re-elections in the state.
He further claimed the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for blocking the Bill in the House, in retaliation to the FIR filed by the Delhi Government against Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani over gas prices. (ANI)
