Srinagar, Feb.12,: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday created ruckus in the assembly session, as legislators shouted slogans and tore documents over the government’s approach in formulation of new administrative units for state development.
The PDP members alleged discrimination against the coalition government headed by regional National Conference (NC) in setting up of new administration units and ignoring other deserving areas, resulting in a tense atmosphere inside the Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
Due to the ruckus, Speaker Mubarak Gul had to adjourn the House and ask the security personnel to take control of the situation.
President of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, who also demonstrated during the assembly session, said they will continue to protest till their demands are met.
“We have been raising this issue in the assembly for the last two to three days. People of other legislative assembly should also get their rights. All over the Kashmir, people are protesting against new units. Our party will fight for their rights,” said Mufti.
The Opposition has accused Omar Abdullah-led ruling government in Jammu and Kashmir of setting up of administrative block only in the constituencies of legislators of National Conference (NC), without any set criteria.
Recently, protests and demonstrations have become the norm of the day as the people in the state vent their anger against the government led by Omar Abdullah, which is marred by corruption and has failed to address their woes. (ANI)
