Kejriwal says there was development of Ambani and Adani, not of farmers in Gujarat

Gandhidam, March 6: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that there was development in Gujarat but it was of Ambani’s and Adani’s.

“There was growth in Gujarat but it was of Ambani’s and Adani’s. The farmers in Gujarat were decimated. The common man has suffered in Gujarat,” said Kejriwal, who is in Gujarat to verify the development claims often made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

“There is no 24 hour electricity supply to the people. People have told me that they have to pay bribe to get job and other services. We will show the truth about the Gujarat model. It is nothing but trash,” he added.

He also reiterated that it is against the party policy to indulge in violence, and urged party workers to spread the truth about Gujarat development model in the state.

“I asked people why they voted for Modi if they are so irked with him. They told me that Modi does not let anyone stay in the opposition. He either buys them or scares them,” he added.

Meanwhile, during his tour, Kejriwal was arrested by the Gujarat Police, which sparked protests.

According to the Gujarat police, Kejriwal was arrested as he had failed to take prior permission from police, before his rallies and processions in Gujarat.

Following his detention, AAP and BJP members entered into a scuffle on Wednesday.

The trouble began when AAP supporters assembled outside the BJP headquarters in New Delhi to protest against detention of Kejriwal by Gujarat police, while he was on an election campaign.

Soon violent clashes also erupted in Lucknow where several AAP supporters were injured. (ANI)
