Chennai, March 6: DMK president M.Karunanidhi Thursday said the party would welcome the two communist parties to its fold.
Queried by reporters about inviting the two communist parties to the DMK fold, he said: “If they come (communist parties), we will accept them.”
The two communist parties Thursday announced they were calling off their alliance with Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK for the Lok Sabha elections as they found no progress in the seat sharing talks. Both parties were allotted a seat apiece by the AIADMK.
In a joint statement, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) said that they have decided to contest the general elections alone.
