Rio de Janeiro, March 11: Corinthians and Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks with a torn left hamstring.
The 30-year-old former Bayern Munich player suffered the injury with five minutes remaining in Corinthians’ 3-2 defeat to Sao Paulo in the Campeonato Paulista Sunday, reported Xinhua.
“Unfortunately it’s not an easy injury,” Sao Paulo doctor Guilherme Runco said. “We need to make sure he takes all the time he needs to recover. He has a lot of pain in the affected area.”
Guerrero’s latest setback came in his first match back from a right knee ailment and an injury-plagued 2013.
He is expected to miss the remainder of the Campeonato Paulista, which ends April 12.
