Congress attacks BJP over black money issue, use of Mahatma Gandhi’s image

Ahmedabad, Apr. 27: Congress party on Sunday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying its leaders know where the black money is and how to bring it back.

Addressing a news conference in Ahmedabad, Union Commerce Minister, Anand Sharma said BJP knows how to put black money into use.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and their supporters have been saying that there is black money and it should be brought back. Now it is clear that only they can do this work. Because they know where black money is and how they can take it out and how it is put to use. This is a trailer in these elections that the entire country is witnessing,” said Sharma.

Sharma stated that the BJP’s campaign revolved around one individual.

“The entire election campaign is centered around one individual only and promotes individualism. This is a big challenge for country’s democracy and culture that one person is being kept above country, party and society and has been made a godly figure. Individualism would reduce democracy and lead to dictatorship,” Sharma added.

Narendra Modi, filed his nomination on Thursday from the temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh state where he is pitted against Arvind Kejriwal, chief of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who shot to fame on the back of his anti-graft crusades.

Modi, who drove through a sea of saffron-clad supporters through the streets of Varanasi, said he felt blessed to be contesting from the ancient town with a rich cultural history.

Further, Sharma asked Election Commission to take notice of BJP’s election campaign as it was using Mahatma Gandhi’s image.

“In these elections, RSS and BJP have done something which has not been done by any other political party in India. They have used the image of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, as promotional item of BJP. We condemn it and ask Election Commission to take notice of it,said Sharma. (ANI)
