Corruption and loot is in the DNA of the Congress: Modi

Mysore, Apr.8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday said corruption and loot is in the DNA of the Congress Party, and added that Mahatma Gandhi had called for the dismantling of the party after the country had gained independence in 1947.

“Corruption and loot seems to be in the DNA of the Congress. Generations may change, the leader will change, but the Congress’ intentions will never change. There is no change in their DNA,” he said.

He reiterated that the results for the Lok Sabha elections were already announced even before it was announced.

“This time, people, who have been suffering for the past ten years, have made it a point to punish the Congress Party and its allies for looting and ruining the nation,” said Modi.

He asked people whether the promises made by the Congress in its manifesto in 2004 and 2009 were fulfilled or not.

Asserting that only Mahatma Gandhi had true knowledge about the Congress, Modi said, “He knew that the Congress was a good platform to gain freedom, but for running the country, these people will never help. Therefore, he had advocated the dismantling of the Congress Party.”

“Now, after 65 years of Independence, we can say with experience that he was right in saying that the Congress should be dismantled. If we had followed Gandhi’s advice, then the country would not have been facing the problems it is facing today,” he added.

He said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has insulted the post, while the Congress is only busy in worshipping ‘one family’.

“If they (Congress) had worshipped the people of the country, then, this wouldn’t have been their state and the country could have been saved from destruction,” he added.

Attacking Rahul Gandhi for his statement that the country wants one billion watchmen instead of only one watchman, he asked, “Will your brother-in-law (Robert Vadra) also serve as a watchman?”

Raking up the Adarsh Housing scam, in which many Congress leaders, including former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan are involved, Modi asked whether Chavan will also serve as a watchman for the country.

“The country is fed up with false promises. It wants an intention with which I have come between you all. Vote for the BJP and give us over 300 seats, and I assure you, I will serve as your chowkidar (guardian) for the next five years,” Modi said.

He also said that the BJP manifesto extensively talks about setting up infrastructure to draw tourists from all over the world. (ANI)
