Guwahati, April 2: Three people, including a woman, were killed when suspected militants fired indiscriminately Wednesday at a group of people in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, police said.
The incident took place in Barabada village. The victims were identified as labourers engaged in construction of a bridge. Two others were injured.
“A group of militants with their faces covered came to the construction site and inquired about the contractor,” an official said.
“When the labourers refused to provide the information, the militants fired, killing three of them on the spot,” the official said.
The National Santhal Liberation Army is suspected to be behind the killings.
