Srirampur (West Bengal),Apr. 27: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee stating that she practiced vote-bank politics.
“Mamata made Bengal a ground for vote bank politics. People from Odisha, Bihar are outsiders but Bangladeshis come here and her face shines,” Modi said at a rally in Srirampur.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate came down heavily on West Bengal chief minister for not improving the state of affairs in her state.
“I always had high respect for you (Mamata Banerjee) but you are doing the same thing here that the Left did,” Modi remarked.
Modi threw question to the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee asking that “people had given you so much of affection and what have you done to their sentiments?”
He tried to touch the Bengali sentiments by drawing the name of freedom fighter and national hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’ famous quote and promised of delivering good governance.
“Subhash Bose said give me blood I will give you freedom, I say give me your support and I will give you Surajya (good governance),” Modi added.
Coming down hard against the Saradha-chit- fund- scam, Modi attacked Union Finance Minister for remaining silent when the scam took place in the first place and questioned whether he was a party to it in aiding it
“Chidambaram was the Finance Minister when the Sharda scam happened, why is he silent on it? Who is he helping?” Modi remarked.
Drawing the crowd’s attention on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Modi told the gathering that Rahul’s intention to visit poor was just like a tourism for him.
“Just like Taj Mahal is a tourism for you, similarly for Rahul visiting poor people is a kind of tourism for him,” Modi added. (ANI)
