Melbourne, April 15: Most candidates are nervous before a job interview, but they need to be very careful that they don’t make major mistakes due to stress.
Two hiring experts have shared the top blunders that one shouldn’t commit during a job interview, News.com.au reported.
John Mahony, COO of staffing agency Kavaliro, said that honesty is the best policy and if a candidate sells himself on something they are not, he will be even after getting the job.
Candidates shouldn’t pretend that they can do it all and one common interview mistake is telling the hiring manager that they are good at or can do any task he or she describes, even if they can’t.
Mahony added that if a candidate’s confidence is low, then it is unlikely that a manager might hire him, as it is important to bring in positive energy and it goes a long way, especially in an interview.
Pete Kazanjy, founder of recruiter search engine TalentBin, said that candidates should use their online presence to discuss the latest trends they have noticed.
According to Kazanjy mentioning hobbies like coding, working with animal shelter and writing poetry can put a good impression on the interviewer as the candidate’s interest can translate into highly valued skills for the job they are interviewing for. (ANI)
