Modi to campaign in Rahul Gandhi’s bastion Amethi today

Amethi, May 5: BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is set to address a rally in Amethi, the bastion of the Gandhis, on Monday.

The Gujarat Chief Minister will address a rally in Gauriganj in favour of BJP candidate Smriti Irani.

Amethi is among the 64 constituencies that will go to polls on May 7 in the eight phase of Lok Sabha polls 2014. Today is the last day of campaigning for the phase.

Congress Vice President Rahul is seeking re-election for the third time from Amethi, where the party has won 10 out of 12 elections. He is campaigning hard across the constituency since May 3.

Gandhi on Sunday staged an impressive roadshow and addressed poll rallies in Amethi, launching a scathing attack on the BJP alleging its intentions on the development issue were not clean.

The Gandhi scion further alleged that Narendra Modi’s development model was limited to one or two industrialists, of which one was Adani.

Meanwhile, taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, Modi on Sunday said that it is the annual festival of Rahul to visit a poor man’s house and take photo of his poverty.

“Rahul’s annual festival is to visit poor person’s house and take their photos,” said Modi while addressing a rally in Bhadohi.

“Someone who has never witnessed poverty feels like watching it. They go to houses to watch the poor people. This is because they don’t know about poor people,” he added.

He also said that the Congress will be punished for making fun of the poor and backward people on May 16.

“They have so much arrogance in them and I wonder the kind of language they are using these days. Is it a crime that I was born in a poor family? Is selling tea at railway station a crime? Have I sold the country?” he asked.

“Now, the poor will not be made fun of in this country,” he further added. (ANI)
